My journey started on holiday last year. I was excited about getting in the pool and then I saw myself in the mirror with my swim suit on. Ohhhh, I'd changed a bit! I blamed lockdown, like so many people do, But come on, lockdown was a few years ago now!
What did I do?
I looked at the photos and felt a bit disgusted. How could I let myself get like that? I'd thrown my scales away a few years ago, probably during lockdown. I had been in denial for a while. It was time to change. On holiday I made a promise to myself that I would do something about it. While sitting around the pool I looked up various weight loss groups and diets, then I found one that looked ok for me. I wanted to join a group so that I was accountable. I hated the thought of weekly weigh ins, but knew that this would give me motivation to stick to the diet. So when I got back, I went to a meeting.
How did hypnotherapy work for me?
When working with clients for weight loss, I ask clients to conjure up an image of their ideal self in their mind. I did this. I used self hypnosis. I recorded a weight loss session for myself and listened to it. I listened to myself talking about healthy eating (which totally worked with my chosen diet plan), and more importantly, I created an image of the ideal self that I wanted to be. This image is my motivation to lose weight, it's strong and it's always there and helps me control my 'treats', Not that I don't have the odd bar of chocolate, or cake, but I know now how much to have and how often I can have it. I want to be that fitter, healthier me by July 23.
Has it worked?
Yes, I've lost 1stone and a half since the last week of August, and my motivation to lose more and reach my target weight is stronger than ever. I completed Couch to 5K and am now running 5K 3 times a week. I feel great, I can see I've lost weight and I'm enjoying running.
Will it work for you?
If you want it too. Everyone has an ideal weight in their mind, it just has to be realistic. You have to want to lose weight.
Hypnotherapy isn't magic, it has to come from you wanting to do it.
